La Federacion Internacional de Ajedrez anuncio que el Campeonato\r\nMundial de Ajedrez 2005 se realizara el 27 de Septiembre al 16 de\r\nOctubre en la ciudad de San Luis, Argentina bajo la direccion de la\r\nThe World Chess Federation (FIDE) is pleased to announce that the World\r\nChess Championship Tournament 2005 will take place 27 September - 16\r\nOctober in the city of San Luis, Argentina under the aegis of the\r\nProvince of San Luis. \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe ongoing bidding procedure concerning the World Championship 2005\r\nhas been resolved in favour of the San Luis candidacy, whose\r\nnegotiation team in Athens exercised the option provided in article\r\n2.5.1 of the official regulations and offered on 15 April a prize fund\r\nof USD 1,000,000 (one million) for the event. The offer is also backed\r\nby a financial guarantee and an agreement concerning further organizing\r\ndetails has been signed by the Governor of San Luis, H.E. Dr Alberto\r\nRodriguez Saa and the FIDE President H.E. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nDownload Press release in pdf format. \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nIn accordance with the Communique of the 2nd quarter 2005 FIDE Presidential Board\r\nthe Board approved the final list of participants who have all\r\nconfirmed their participation in the World Chess Championship\r\nTournament, 27 September - 16 October 2005 in San Luis, Argentina: \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n1. GM Rustam Kasimdzhanov of Uzbekistan (World Champion) \r\n\r\n2. GM Michael Adams of England (runner-up of the Tripoli World Championship) \r\n\r\n3. GM Judit Polgar of Hungary \r\n\r\n4. GM Peter Leko of Hungary \r\n\r\n5. GM Peter Svidler of Russia \r\n\r\n6. GM Vishy Anand of India \r\n\r\n7. GM Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria \r\n\r\n8. GM Alexander Morozevich of Russia \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe last four players are nominated on the basis of the FIDE rating\r\nlist (average of July 2004 and January 2005). If any player declines\r\nthe invitation he will be replaced by the next on the FIDE rating list\r\n(average rating of July 2004 & January 2005). |
